In 2013, an estimated 232,340 new cases of invasive breast cancer were expected to be diagnosed among US women.
That year, approximately 39,620 US women were expected to die from breast cancer.
Breast cancer incidence rates are highest in non-Hispanic white women, followed by African American women and are lowest among Asian/Pacific Islander women.
Did you know that about 1 in 8 women (12%) will develop invasive breast cancer during their lifetime? The American Cancer Society estimates that over 230,000 new cases of breast cancer will be diagnosed in 2015, and will kill over 40,000. These numbers are lower than in the past, but we can do better!
This Mother's Day week, the Gateway Baseball Club will be redirecting any Power With A Purpose funds raised from Friday, May 8th - Friday, May 15th to the American Cancer Society in honor of our constant fight against cancer, and moms everywhere!
